Tengizchevroil skids Hit the Road

KSK has completed the design and build of two fully enclosed, heated foam/water deluge skids for the Tengizchevroil Company in Kazakhstan.

The skids, some 10.0metres long, were built to withstand the extreme low temperatures of -36 degrees centigrade which necessitated that all valves, pipes and instruments were constructed from special low temperature steel, bronze and stainless steel.

In addition to water deluge, the skids include foam storage, pumping and proportioning all operable by remote signals from the site fire & gas control room, via a fire detection signal or locally from the skids themselves.

Because of the skid frame sizes they were constructed on low loader chassis to ease the transportation to the Caspian region and the photograph shows one of the units ready for shipment.
